Anna Williams was born in Richmond and studied photography at the University of the South. It was there that visiting professor Owen Butler told her: "If you want to shoot, start assisting." So she moved to New York and converted a tiny East Village bathroom into a darkroom while assisting some of the top studio photographers of the time. A few years later she was out on her own, and soon after that was recognized by PDN’s 30 under 30 for her outstanding work. Since then, Anna has been shooting for clients such as Martha Stewart Living, Real Simple, O Magazine, Food & Wine, Wal-Mart, Target, Proctor & Gamble, and Williams Sonoma. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, daughter, and son.
